Administrative Assistant The medical office administrative assistant plays a crucial role in facilitating communication between clinicians, other providers, and patients. They greet and check-in patients, book appointments primarily through phone calls and Ocean portal communications, and send referrals as directed by the clinicians. They also follow up on specialist referrals, manage patient paperwork, and review incoming consults, prescriptions, and other patient documents received via fax. Additionally, the administrative assistant works closely with the doctors, answering phones, sending referral records in the chart, and chasing appointment status and reports. They also perform administrative tasks received from email communication (Ocean online portal) and send appointment information emails to patients.
